After more than three years of construction, Norfolk, Virginia-based Marathon Development Group and Richmond, Virginia-based Breeden Construction have completed Gravity on 400, a 273-unit mixed-use property in Norfolk’s downtown Waterside District, according to a news release shared with Multifamily Dive.
The property opened for its first move-ins in the fall, a few months before construction was complete, according to CoStar. The six-story building, located on a former city-owned parking lot, forms a trapezoidal ring around a central courtyard and mixes stark white panels with black metal and silver-blue accents.
The unit mix includes 20 floor plans — each of them named after constellations such as Orion, Aries and Aquarius — ranging from studios to three bedrooms in size. Each unit includes vinyl hardwood floors, stainless steel appliances and matte black kitchen fixtures. Balconies, walk-in closets and in-unit laundry are available in select units.
Amenities include a pool, a fitness center, a Peloton studio, a community room, garage parking and commercial space on the first floor.
The property is located on Norfolk’s Elizabeth River, in close proximity to the city’s central business district as well as Town Point Park and the Elizabeth River Trail. S. L. Nusbaum Realty Co. is the property’s manager.
Gravity on 400 is directly adjacent to the Icon Norfolk Apartments, another Marathon Development Group project. The 269-unit property, also managed by S.L. Nusbaum, was redeveloped out of the former Bank of America Center in 2017.
