Leasing has begun for a 39-story tower in Uptown Oakland, California, that combines a variety of resources for residents of its 452 units, including office spaces and a private fleet of electric vehicles.
Developed by Danville, California-based developer Behring Cos., 1900 Broadway incorporates 53,653 square feet of flexible office space across two floors, operated by Stak Ventures, a subsidiary of Behring Co. Available spaces include private offices, communal areas and meeting and collaboration rooms. Companies or individuals can either lease space or join via monthly membership, and members are permitted access to all building amenities, according to Behring Co.
Over 100 Tesla electric vehicles are also available for residents to rent through the property’s Stak mobile app. The vehicles are hosted on-site and delivered through an automated valet parking system.
1900 Broadway is located directly above the 19th Street Bay Area Rapid Transit station, making it about 13 minutes away from downtown San Francisco, according to a press release shared with Multifamily Dive. A variety of shops, restaurants and entertainment venues are located within walking distance, including the Fox Theater and Paramount Theater. Move-ins are expected to start in April.
Bouncing back
Leading up to the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, Oakland experienced a surge in new apartment supply, according to Colin Behring, CEO of Behring Cos. However, following the pandemic, the city’s new supply pipeline lagged behind others in the Bay Area.
“This supply shortage is compounded by the region’s robust global economy and rapidly growing AI industry, which is bringing an increasing number of young professionals to the area,” Behring told Multifamily Dive. “In fact, anticipated demand is poised to exacerbate Oakland’s supply crisis over the next two years. In this landscape, 1900 Broadway [comprises] nearly half of the roughly 1,000 apartments slated for delivery in the next 12 months.”
Living options at 1900 Broadway include standard apartments, ranging from studios to three-bedroom units and co-living suites with four bedrooms. Each one offers ceiling heights of up to 10 feet, floor-to-ceiling windows, in-unit laundry, Italian cabinetry and Samsung smart appliances.
These and other smart home features, including Nest thermostats and Latch door locks, are controlled through the property’s mobile app.
Other amenities include a lobby lounge, a fitness center offering group workout classes, a fourth-floor lounge with table games, several lounges, a fourth-floor deck and pool with barbecues and firepits, a turf lawn, a dog park and pet spa and a taproom serving beer, wine, kombucha and other offerings.
The property’s manager, Bozzuto, also offers a number of concierge services, including plant care, newspaper delivery, feline care and optional in-home package delivery on request.
